Moving averages, Breakout strategies, etc. are no match for the Dow Theory No new from the markets. Primary and secondary trends unchanged. And hence, I will further cogitate about the Dow Theory. Such moments of market lull are good to rethink one’s premises. The more I know the entrails of the Dow Theory, the more […]

Nothing has changed. Primary and Secondary trends remain the same.    Trends have not changed. So what I wrote in my last post remains valid. http://www.dowtheoryinvestment.com/2015/04/dow-theory-update-for-april-10-trends.html So let’s take advantage of the lack of news, to ponder a bit about trends, their nature and how to make money out of them. More on Gary Antonacci One gentle reader recommended me this interview with Gary Antonacci. I recommend it to the readers of this Dow Theory blog too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-LmujiWPTs If I were to forget all about the Dow Theory, dual momentum would be my choice without hesitation. Furthermore, one could have two different portfolios: The first one, […]

Primary and secondary trends unchanged. This is getting boring. Weeks pass by and US Stocks, gold, silver and their miners ETFs have not changed their trends. We remain disciplined and continue watching the markets. So what I wrote in my last post (and links pertaining thereto) remains fully valid.  http://www.dowtheoryinvestment.com/2015/04/dow-theory-update-for-april-2-primary.html Sincerely, The Dow Theorist

Lull in the markets Days pass by and trends don’t change. No Dow Theorist ever promised that applying the Dow Theory is going to be thrilling. It is dry, and does not lend itself to fancy and entertaining reading. US Stocks remain caught in a narrow range, which seems to be getting narrower for the […]

Primary and secondary trends remain unchanged I have praised Gary Antonacci, of Dual Momentum, and his book, in the past. I am very frank to you: If I suddenly forgot all about the Dow Theory, I’d surely follow the approach expounded by Gary Antonacci. He’s clearly a trend follower, and the methods he uses are […]

Is it a secular bull or bear market? Barry Ritholtz of the “Big Picture” finance blog, has written an interesting article concerning secular bull and bear markets.   He, as this blogger truly yours, withholds judgment and merely portrays the different opinions.  He quotes many names of market observers such as such as Raymond James’s […]

Another short Dow Theory update. Today we saw fireworks in the markets. US stocks, gold, silver and their miners ETFs closed strongly up. However, when looked through Dow Theory glasses nothing has been accomplished, and no trend has been changed. Therefore, the analysis I made here, remains unchanged. Sincerely, The Dow Theorist

Are US Stocks under a secondary reaction? Not yet. Time remains in very short supply, so let’s encapsulate the vital information. I am writing before the close. So some of my musings could be altered after the close. US STOCKS The SPY and the Industrials have been declining for 7 days. The Transports declined for […]

Time is once again in very short supply, so I haven’t been able to post much of late. However, trends have not changed, since my last post last week. Not even secondary ones.
